Assistance to refuges from Ukraine
The project focuses on people who were forced to leave their country as a result of the war in Ukraine and found temporary or permanent refuge in Slovakia. In cooperation with UNHCR and UNICEF, so-called safe spaces – Blue Dots – have been created, where these people can find the necessary help and support. They consist of 2 parts – the Space for Children and Families and the Information and Counselling Centre. They are located all over Slovakia – in Bratislava, Nitra, Dunajská Streda, Košice, Michalovce,Trenčín and Žilina.
The staff, as well as colleagues in the field, provide the comprehensive assistance that those leaving Ukraine may need in Slovakia. They mainly focus on legal, social and psychological assistance, accompany people and assist them when visiting doctors, offices, police, help them find accommodation, schools and jobs, etc. As part of mental hygiene and mental health, also important are various leisure and educational activities for children and adults, where people with similar fates can have fun, talk and make new friends.
